For those who enjoy something a little spicier, the restaurant offers various curries that pack a punch, like the vindaloo or the spicy lamb rogan josh. They also cater to vegetarians, with a range of plant-based dishes like dal makhani, palak paneer, and chana masala.

One of the highlights of dining at Kinara is the incredible variety. You can enjoy a range of tandoori dishes, grilled to perfection, with smoky, charred edges that bring out the unique flavors of the spices. If you’re not sure what to order, the staff are more than happy to make recommendations based on your preferences or spice tolerance. Whether you choose to sit indoors or enjoy the fresh air outside, the restaurant creates a welcoming and comfortable environment.

On a recent visit, I tried the chicken tikka masala and was impressed by how tender and flavorful the chicken was, paired with a rich and creamy sauce that wasn’t too heavy. The naan bread was the perfect accompaniment-fluffy and soft, yet crisp on the outside. The biryani, which came with tender chunks of lamb, was fragrant and perfectly spiced, making it one of the best I’ve had in Brisbane. The dessert, a creamy and decadent kulfi, was the perfect way to end the meal.

Kinara Indian Restaurant is more than just a place to eat; it’s an experience that transports you straight to India through its flavors, atmosphere, and hospitality. Whether you’re a first-timer or a regular, you’re sure to enjoy the authentic taste of Indian cuisine that Kinara delivers. • #restaurant Kinara Indian Restaurant 68 Manning St, South Brisbane QLD 4101 Price range $$ Kinara has been on my list for a while finally tried it and absolutely loved the experience! Portions were generous, flavours were comforting and bold, and everything came out beautifully fragrant. Special thanks to our Indian friends recommend this restaurant to us! It gets pretty busy on weekends, so definitely book ahead! Weekdays are much more chill and we did walk-ins. The service was friendly, the spices were well-balanced without being overwhelming. A really solid spot for classic Indian flavours done well. Here’s what we ordered: GOL GAPPE (8 PCS) — $14 Deep-fried crisp spheres stuffed with potatoes, black chickpeas, onion & coriander, served with sweet tamarind sauce and spicy mint water (V) PLATTER OF DIPS WITH PAPADUMS — $14 Crunchy lentil wafers paired with mango chutney, raita and mint sauce — simple but satisfying (V) PAPRI CHAAT — $16 Crispy wafers topped with potatoes, black chickpeas, yoghurt, and sweet + spicy chutneys — bright, tangy and super refreshing. All of us love this dish. This is a really safe one to order if you are new to Indian cuisine!!! PRAWN GARLIC MASALA — $28 Tiger prawns sautéed with onion, garlic and house masala — rich, aromatic and full of flavour (GF) love it KINARA GOAT SPECIAL — $28 Slow-cooked goat on the bone in a velvety tomato-onion masala with freshly ground spices — tender and comforting not sure with the goat, there is a little bit of weird taste that hits a bit FISH TIKKA MASALA — $28 Tandoori cod fillet simmered in chef’s special gravy with a touch of cream & coriander — mild, creamy and delicious (GF) MANGO CHICKEN — $26 Chicken marinated in warm spices and cooked in a coastal-style mango coconut sauce — sweet, creamy and super comforting this one actually surprise me, and I would definitely order when revisiting, it’s also interesting combination that I never think of. 食印度菜嘅經驗唔多,但係呢間嘢真係可以試吓! • • Follow the world of @what_is_in_my_stomach on Instagram to discover the answer of the most often asked question, “what to eat” contemporary approach to all kinds of restaurants, street food, cafe and home cooking together ‼ • • #foodlover #foodaholic #yum #eat #dinner #breakfast #lunch #foodies #brisbane #queensland #QLD #bne #Goldcoast #seafood #australia #foodie #indian #india #印度

  • Excellent food, every dish was full of flavor and tasted fresh and high-quality. We visited this restaurant twice during our 3-day stay in Brisbane because it was so good. We tried Butter Chicken, Chili Paneer, Sahi Paneer and different Naans - all excellent. The service was friendly, the atmosphere good, and the price fair. Out of the nine Indian restaurants we visited in Australia during our holiday, this was by far the best one. We’d be happy to come back.

  • I am glad that Brisbane has finally got its own decent Indian joint in the form of Kinara. No other restaurant sticks to mind when you think of authentic Indian cuisine and I've tried heaps in the 17 years I've lived here. The food has never gone wrong in all the times I have been here, the service is impeccable and attentive, and if my 4 yr old likes the food, its an all round win. If anything I feel the quality of the dishes keep going up. Special shout out to the staff at the front for doing an amazing job!! I hope they keep going at this level because standards like these are hard to come by. Keep up the good work

  • This Indian restaurant is always busy, and for good reason! If you’re craving Indian curry, this place is a must. The Butter Chicken and Prawn Chili Curry are delicious, the naan is amazing, and the Mango Lassi is also fantastic. Now I understand why it’s so popular! The staff are super friendly, the service is excellent I recommend going a bit earlier on Friday evenings — by 6 PM the waiting line already starts. I’ll definitely be coming back often.

  • Tried this Indian cuisine restaurant “Kinara” South Bank in Brisbane and overall, it was a satisfying experience! The food was flavorful and brought back a taste of home. We started with Aloo Tikki Chaat and Chilli Paneer — both were absolutely superb in taste and presentation. The main course dinner lived up to our expectations as well, capturing authentic Indian flavours. We ordered Naan, Butter Chicken, Dal Makhani, & Shahi Paneer and I can say food was good and the tastes were authentic and the spice levels were checking before taking order ( I appreciate that). The real star of the meal, however, was the Kesar Kulfi – a perfect 10/10! It tasted exactly like the ones we used to enjoy in Jaipur — creamy, rich, and true to tradition. The staff was polite and courteous, and the service quality was good, though we did experience a bit of a wait time even after booking well in advance. That said, the taste made it worth the wait. I wanted to give it 4 ⭐s but the Kesar Kulfi was the taste that took me back to my home town and the starters too If you’re craving genuine Indian flavours with a touch of nostalgia, this place is worth a visit.
